Windows 9 Start Menu Demonstrated in Video

Microsoft puts Windows 8's chocolate into Windows 7's peanut butter.

Microsoft has made it no secret that everyone’s beloved Start Menu is coming back.  Microsoft demonstrated the new Start Menu before, but the video above is probably the most in-depth we’ve seen it.  It should be noted that the video is not from Microsoft, but from German site WinFuture who either got a preview version of Windows 9 or a leaked copy.

The video shows that Microsoft has put together the best of both works, having a Windows 7 style Start Menu while leaving the ability to add Live Tiles on the side.  There doesn’t appear to be a limit to how many Live Tiles you can add, as the menu grows or shrinks depending on how many tiles are there.  You can also still resize tiles, so it looks like the full functionality is intact.  It also appears that there is an option to keep the Windows 8 style Start Menu, which may be the way for me to go since I’ve grown quite attached to it.

Either way, it looks like Microsoft is on the right track with Windows 9 — putting together something that both Windows 7 and 8 lovers can enjoy.
